New website up
After a long time working with my own custom joomla version, I decided its time to give it a slight overall
(Especially for working with bigger resolutions

Please be aware that some old stuff is still missing until
I shift all stuff to the new server

Quick'n dirty render showing the unfolding of the wings

Long time ago, when I put together my first demo reel, I showcased a multipurpose spaceship extensively, which, considering the time constraints and level was just good enough for the resolution displayed.
I always nagged me, that a lot of the parts where more or less stand in geometry, and texturing was a bare minimum. SO finally I found some time to more or less revamp it. (Especially the back part) and experiment a bit with blenders texture paint capabilities. Original model was done in LightWave3D rework was done in blender and photoshop. Source images for the textures from textures.com.

The idea behind the model was to design a modular multipurpose spaceship, which can be configured to various needs, if anyone is interested in the design choice. As for zhe cockpit, I wanted to have flat window segments on purpose

Post mortem
I could go on with this further, especially the front part, which at that time was acceptable would need a complete revamp for my todays taste.
But I call it done, and use the skill acquired on a different projects. No this model is not "production ready" to go into a regular vfx pipeline. That would need at least two additional days.

I want better access to layered image formats in my 3d paint/texturing system (psd / kra / xcf / exr / tiff, any of them would be ok).
Allowing me to access, and modify individual layers (paint single / ideally paint multiple layers at the same time) . Thats would be golden, for a fast workflow. And would make housecleaning that much easier. Node trees would become less cluttered, and versioning would be easier. Think of what one psd file containing all pbr textures of a set could do speed and comfort wise.

For people asking if blender is a good tool for texture paint (in combination with a paint program) I have to say: If you work in a traditional vfx pipeline: no. If yo go the traditional route of 1. model 2. uv 3.texture 4. shading, there are better more dedicated tools for this. BUT for small teams where you do everything yourself it got some advantages doing it in one tool, even if its inferior: You are far less committed thorough the process. Just the freedom to group / reassign materials, object groups on the fly is godsend. Heck even add some additional detail while texturing, is a matter of minutes. I was always on the side, that a specified paint program is always better, but the flexibility of an all in one package should not be underestimated.
